Yes, Mother; S4E2:” Goodnight, Mother” Feedback discussion

hqdefaultEpisode 2 did not disappoint! Nor did it lack in feedback. We thought we better break this up into manageable pieces. We may do this quite a bit in the future if you guys keep sending us feedback (DON’T STOP!) The episode discussion will follow shortly (like tomorrow).

We added “discussion” on there because you know we do more than just read your feedback.

At the end you get a glimpse of what podcasting with Emily can be like.

Yes Mother, S4: Ep 1, “A Danger to Himself and Others”

01ffffad0ffd69cc1c582b29b66d27e3937bcae66eHow glad we are to be back to White Pine Bay (even if there are a few more bodies in it). Things have gotten off to a cracking start- Norman is spending much of his time either talking to mother or being her, Norma is scheming half baked schemes and Romero is having none of it, Emma is getting new lungs, and we see the seedier side of what Oregon has to offer in the way of mental health. Oh- and Emma’s mom thought sneaking in to meet Norman would be a good idea (spoiler alert: it wasn’t). Listen to Norma next time when she tells you to stay away from her son!

On the podcast, we are able to reacquaint ourselves with many of our hotel and B and B guests by reading their comment cards, and the seedier “Normero Inn” gets it’s first occupant. But you will have to wait until the end to hear our vocal comment card from Matt A and his bossy, interrupting, robot girlfriend who is always trying to tell him where to turn. We also recap the episode in the only way we know how over here at Yes Mother- with laughs and discussion and theories.

Join us! You know we always have fresh towels, peepholes, and good times.

Yes Mother: Preparing for the new season and deleted scenes from S3

bates-01This podcast is basically everything Em and Sue talked about that night that didn’t have to do with Normero. Then we spliced in a call we put into room #1 and discussed with Harold the deleted scenes from Season 3. We are really just excited for next week! The linens are freshly laundered, we put all new light bulbs in all the rooms, and the peepholes are polished and nicely hidden. Norman- make sure you iron that blue dress! We want you looking sharp. See you all on Monday!

Yes, Mother: A Bate’s Motel NORMERO Special

01f329e719456cf4857fa51eaa695f593868c255d4

Well, we did it- we talked about Norma and Alex for an entire episode.  We explored their relationship scene by scene, starting with that high stress first meeting where Sheriff Alex Romero is suspiciously suspicious of Norma (like she is hiding a dead body right under his nose or something) to that scene in front of the hotel when she is stoic and vulnerable and he is unapologetic and frustrated and willing to do anything for that hot mess Norma Bates whom we all love so much.

We reminisce and remember the good and bad times these two have had before they inevitably change, we rate some scenes according to chemistry, and have an all around grand time, as we do.

Yes Mother: Em and Sue Watch Psycho IV

jfletcherrare3In continuing our tradition of watching the Psycho sequels during the Bates Motel hiatus, we came across this little gem. This is the final and some might say most spectacular of the Psycho sequels. It also is perhaps the most relevant, since it is actually Psycho IV: The Beginning, meaning it tries to tell the backstory of Norma and Norman. Did they do a good job? No. Did they make an entertaining movie? YES!!  Did the word “relevant” stick in my throat just then?  You betcha.

We had a ball recording this podcast- this movie was such a What the Bipper- you just have to watch it. Or listen to this podcast- we paint a pretty good picture I think. It’s like you don’t even need to watch it now. Except you do– trust us. You do.  Just erase everything you saw and heard after watching and thank Carlton Cuse and Keri Ehrin for creating Bates Motel.

Yes Mother: Bates Motel Season 3 Wrap up

normaThe long awaited wrap up of season 3 is here! We were joined by a special guest this time, making her first ever podcast debut… our sister Cat! Yes, there are more of us, and I think it will be pretty clear to everyone early on that we are sisters.

Anyway… in this podcast we highlight our favorite parts of the season by talking about our individual favorite episodes, count down our favorite scenes, favorite quotes, and do a 5 most favorite / 5 least favorite parts of the season. We also discuss what we think might happen in season 4, discuss how our points of view may have changed watching all episodes after having seen the whole season (Emily had some epiphanies), discuss Normero a bit, and we may have a giggle now and then.

Oh yes– and we have contest winners! Tune in, and make a trip back to White Pine Bay, get a room at our B and B, we think you will find your trip enjoyable, peepholes and all.

Sue Watches Buffy #39, S6: eps Flooded – All the Way

kittenpoker5In this installment of the podcast, Em and Sue discuss Flooded, Life Serial, and All the Way. Somehow we find ourselves also discussing James Bond, Joyce’s life insurance policy, worms and eggs and 10,000 years in Buddhism. You know- just another day while Sue Watches Buffy. (You have to stay until after the song to hear about the worms and the eggs, one of those “Sue stories” about her weekend shenanigans.)

We really did talk a lot about these Buffy episodes too– and we did our best to not speak too bitterly about Willow’s actions these days (fail) and tried not to beat the “household money problems dead horse” too much.

P.S. Sue’s “Once More With Feeling wish list” is a must listen!

Sue Watches Buffy #38 S6: Eps- Bargaining – After Life (+ WWBW)

627

We’ve made it to season 6 guys! In this episode of the podcast, Sue watched both parts of Bargaining and After Life, and had some surprising reactions (to me anyway -her sister-). Em and Sue spend some time talking about the state of the Scoobies and what’s up with Spike. We also both have a lot of feelings about everything Dawn has been through. There is also the subject of Buffy and her after life shenanigans. Tune in to hear our thoughts! Also you should write in so we can hear YOUR thoughts.

Before all this though, we discuss a few other things we’ve been watching. Sue checked out some new programming and Em mostly watched some old programming in a fevered haze. Good times!

Yes Mother Podcast, Bates Motel: S3E10 “Unconcious” Pt I (Episode Recap)

0150c370e9e581a0279b91a95f719bcc30eefc9690This is Part One of our podcast for the finale episode of Bates, S3. In part one I am including the episode recap only (which was the middle part of our recording- so if it lacks a proper beginning and a proper end, well that’s why). I chose to cut it this way, and leave feedback and the contest for Part II. You can relax- I’m not making you wait a week either- it will be out by Saturday, I just couldn’t release such a mega episode all in one go.

As for the show episode: well… lives were taken, kisses were had, kisses were not had. White PIne Bay did it’s job, and did it’s job well.

ps No, I can’t tell you why Sue’s typing errors were so funny. I just know that they were.
