Join us on this episode as we recap this game-changer. This week, Marion Crane checked in, Norman offered stationary and a sandwich, and then she took a shower. I’ll stop there and just quote my favorite tweet of Monday night, by @GeneHarl0w:
“Dear Feminist Version of Psycho. I didn’t know I needed you. But thank you. Turns out I’m aggressively into it.”
I think that about sums it up. Only four left guests!

This week, Bates Motel when full Psycho! Haha– just kidding cause man I’m getting sick of reading reviews that say that, because they’ve been saying it since the end of season 2. So can we put a moratorium on saying that finally? Anyways– this was a pretty cool episode and in this podcast we read your feedback.
Interesting episode, missing 3 of it’s major players. But can Freddie Highmore carry an episode that lacks 3 of his most dynamic costars? YOU BET HE CAN! And he can do it in a wig and lacy things (even though we sadly have to rely on our imaginations for that- but our imaginations are vast). We are holding out hope we get a flashback! Hope? Nay. DEMAND.
Em and Sue recap this week’s episode of Bates Motel. Caleb is handcuffed in the basement, Norman is walking in the woods with Norma dopplegangers (and blacking out quite a bit lately), Norma is chilling in the basement, and Chick…well, Chick seems to now be the butler. Whatever is happening with everyone in this episode, I think we can all agree that the Bate’s house is a bit more busy than it’s been in a while.
We are back this week with our feedback for Bad Blood. We read your feedback and discuss the finer points of this crazy, Chick-filled, sideshow.
It’s week 2 and Em and Sue are having a great time discussing this season with all it’s intricacies. There is so much to pull apart and we find ourselves interpreting many things differently, so hopefully that makes for an interesting discussion and no- Sue isn’t psychic– in the second half of this discussion we had a new audio trama, Em was on some sort of delay so Sue seemed to anticipate the ends of her sentences and we talk over each other more than usual (even if we didn’t actually). Mose is creative in his meddling- I’ll give him that. Next week, I should have that ironed out- SORRY AGAIN! But all is right with the world anyway, because Norma is suddenly French and it’s fantastic! Also, Em got served up some humble pie, rethinking how ready she is to experience the horrors of this season, no matter how excited she thought she was to experience it and Sue found a new bar for how much she could adore Chick. (And I thought she hated people eating apples!– I guess Chick is the exception.)
In this ep of the podcast, we go in depth in our discussion of the episode, going through it scene by scene. In this ep of the show, we catch up with the Bates and friends, about 18 months after the death of mother- whether they know about it or not. Norman and Norma live in a idyllic world, that turns slightly troubling when Norman meets a girl and finds a wallet. But don’t worry- Norman has “the shusher” aka Norma in his head that makes things better. Dylan and Emma are living a practically perfect life in Seattle until a creature from their past shows up.
We’re back and so is Bates Motel! Yay! We are so excited for this season– shhh about it being the last 🙁 We are back, reading your thoughts and sharing ours as we do so. So happy to have so many old faces back and a few new ones too- the motel and B and B are almost as alive with activity as Norman’s motel seems to be. Don’t try to check in by the hour at our place either– we aren’t that type of establishment. Except for the Normero Inn, that’s a whole different story…
