Join Tabz, Emma, Kim, Heidi and Scott as they discuss the BBC series, Sherlock. Tabz and Emma have seen the series before, but Kim, Heidi and Scott haven’t!

Episode recap from Wikipedia.org
The police investigate the deaths of a series of people who all appear to have committed suicide by taking a poisonous pill. They turn to their unofficial consultant, Sherlock Holmes, who deduces various elements pointing to a serial killer. Meanwhile, Sherlock Holmes is introduced to John Watson, and the pair immediately move into a flat in Baker Street. John Watson slowly gets to know and trust Holmes despite a police officer warning him that Holmes is a psychopath and will one day be responsible for murder. A man who calls himself “Sherlock Holmes’ archenemy” kidnaps Watson and asks whether he’ll spy on Holmes for money, but Watson refuses. After a series of incidents, the person responsible for the deaths, a taxicab driver, reveals that his victims took their own lives by playing a game of Russian roulette with two pills: one fatally poisonous, the other safe. Watson shoots the cabbie, who reveals as he dies that Moriarty masterminded the entire plan.

  1. Listening now, loving it, I like that there is a mix of people who know a lot about Sherlock and those that don’t know anything more then the Robert Downey Jr Movie (*cringe*) hee hee It’s a good mix and fun.

I’m only partway through the podcast now but as the hosts talk about how much they like that Watson is keeping a blog I thought I should mention that Watson’s blog (and Sherlock’s Consulting Detective site and some others) are actual websites that the BBS set up and are a lot of fun to go through BUT you can’t read them until you have seen all of the episodes because there are spoilers. Perhaps TABZ can grab the Study in Pink post and comments to share, but ignore the rest till it comes up in the show. These sites were set up and maintained as the show aired live, i wonder/hope they continue when Sherlock eventually returns to screen.

  2. The cabbie thing, I got that, at the restaurant, but I was thinking “No one ever looks at the driver” drivers are always ignored. I didn’t think the cabs were overdone though.

The shot at the end, I don’t think Sherlock saw Watson, and I like that he started to go into deduction mode because it’s hard for Sherlock not to point out what he thinks is obvious to everyone, it’s hard for him not to show off his intelligence to everyone.

Why do they keep bringing up the shaking and the cane, because of the PTSD thing, I think it’s a great addition to Watson’s character and it gives reason for why a doctor would need a flatmate and why he would bother with following Holmes around.

And yes, Tabz is my sister in arms when it comes to Sherlock 🙂 And her Trek story was dead on 🙂

“No one every wins in Afghanistan.” Too true
